In development with partners across Portugal and Germany, the series brings together a distinctive creative vision and a region of rare cinematic potential.

The Partners
Academic and institutional partner providing research support, location access, and cultural legitimacy for the project's southern Portugal setting.
Develops and manages cultural and creative projects in Portugal, working alongside public institutions and production partners to carry each project from concept through delivery.
Why Portugal
Portugal's southern territories carry a weight of history that few European regions can match — centuries of maritime ambition, cultural exchange, and the quiet resilience of a people at the edge of the known world. The Algarve is not backdrop. It is character. South Border is rooted here by design.
For international co-productions, Portugal offers a mature creative infrastructure, competitive incentive frameworks, and a cultural identity that translates across borders. This project is built to travel.
Contribution Route
ARI / GEPACSouth Border is structured to accommodate cultural contributions under Portugal's ARI (Autorização de Residência para Atividade de Investimento) framework and GEPAC cultural investment provisions. This section is intended for prospective contributors and their legal or financial advisors.
Process
Eligible contributions are directed through the approved cultural investment channel. Applications are reviewed by the relevant Portuguese authority. Contributors receive written confirmation of eligibility prior to commitment.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE
Confirmed contributors are credited as Associate Producers of South Border and receive invitations to the series premiere and principal production events.
